Lists

My off-white blouse fabric dyed fantastically. The lace too. Perfect match, A+ would dye again!
My wizardry from this morning went... okay. I like that the taffeta kept its "shimmer". It's not black though, and the two pieces are not quite the same color. I did buy extra dye, so I'm going to shove them both in the pot on Wednesday boil the crap out of it for an hour and hope for the best. I only left each piece in for 30 minutes this first time, and they came out a dark green/copper color. Not too bad for the steampunk outfit, but I really would like it to be closer to black.
When I was dismantling the skirt, I had a really neat idea for what to do with it when I put it back together. I'm going to make a convertible skirt/bustle out of it with a bunch of hooks and eyes underneath. Hopefully I can get my hands on a dress form to barrow from my friend so I can drape this and see how it will work.

The List

Bodyline Steampunk Skirt - Almost done
Black Bloomers - Done
Cream Blouse - Fabric Dyed
Black Bolero - Still need fabric
Tiny Hat - Done
Long Skirt - Partially Dyed
Bustle "thing" - Hemmed
Giant Necklace Fixed - Fixed
Corset Charms - Not Started

I feel like I'm forgetting something...

SEW ALL THE THINGS!!

So, pink can be steampunk, right? I bought pink/brown/white striped fabric for my version of the bodyline steampunk skirt. They didn't have any stripes that would have went with my black underskirt, and this way I can use my pink F+F skirt and the underskirt and will have one less thing to make.

I also found the most amazing fabric ever. I'll make a bustle...thing out of it. It looks just like brown-black taffeta, but it's really heavy. It's nylon instead of polyester. The best part is that it STAYS. If I crinkle it up it stays just like that, if I shake it and balloon it out (like the most awesome bustle ever) it stays. I'm also pretty sure it's waterproof, haha. They only had 2 yards left, otherwise I would have bought so much of it. It was on clearance, so I doubt I'll be able to find more at another store. DX

Still no blouse fabric. How hard is it to find decent white shirting? I know I'll have to tea-dye whatever I end up with. I'll probably end up going back to Haberman's and getting the stuff I looked at before. It was really sheer, but I can just wear a tank under it or something. I want an awesome off-white high collard blouse, so this really isn't optional. Although, I do have a white blouse that will work if I end up getting lazy about it.

Makeup Reviews for Epic Awesomeness

The blogs I read have been doing makeup reviews lately. They are great and all, but don’t really apply to me and mine for when it really counts-when you are drunk and sweating your ass off at the club, but still want to look good.

Onward!Collapse )

Once I find out more about that epic makeup palette that I received for Christmas, I’ll edit this with the details. Hopefully some of you find this useful. Maybe next time I’ll write up something on wig care. Have to put those Drag Queen Housewife skills too use you know XD.

Cheeptrims, Why U hatin?

I have just enough black lace to finish these two projects. Not enough for hairbows to match the skirt I'm making. Why did you have to get rid of the magic black lace cheeptrims, why?

I'm making a top to go with my squid skirt to make it look like a JSK. I drafted the pattern last night. It's going to be the pattern I'll use as a base for all of my JSKs from now on, so this is kind of the practice run. It'll have a small shirred panel in the back. I gave it 3" of ease, I wonder if this is enough? I really want my current measurements to be the max, since I'm slowly losing weight. I don't want to to look stretched out and stupid though. It will have a zipper, so getting it on isn't a problem.

Breaking Bad is an excellent show, everyone should watch it.

Really late beach pictures!

Brian took these of our beach trip with louhibunny and the rest of our D&D group.

Next time we go I'll bring my camera so there can actually be more pictures of us instead of just the pretty scenery, lol.
